Safety and Rescue Courses

Courses typically offered under the the British Canoeing system-

  • Open water Safety and Rescue
  • Paddlesport Safety and Rescue

  • White Water Safety

For the courses above external providers will be found to assist you with your requirements.

Rhys Green will also be delivering bespoke training courses to assist with updating knowledge, understand and practical application opposed to necessarily following a syllabus. These will not be BC or CW courses but will work off of the same concept and principles meeting your needs and requirements as a paddler.

Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Training

Location Sheltered Water-

Ungraded sections of slow moving rivers where the group could paddle upstream against the flow (not involving the shooting of, or playing on, weirs or running rapids). Areas of open water (e.g. lakes and lochs) where the paddlers are no more than 200 metres offshore and the wind strength does not exceed Beaufort force 3, avoiding the group being swept/blown out of the safe working area. Slow moving estuaries (less than 0.5 Knots)

Through this day we will look at safety protocols, equipment, craft to craft along with multi craft rescues. This course has set objectives and with the new updates it has the paddle more in mind.
